Re: Local Charcoal Briquettes

Ah ha Asda. Missus isn't keen on the place but there is one opposite my office. I'll check them out.

Re: Local Charcoal Briquettes

I'm new to my WSM and was a bit worried. Mine ran for 8 hours on 3/4 of a bag of Big K lump charcoal from Morrisons doing a pork shoulder. You'll have no probs I think.

Re: Just went out for a quick smoke...

Ah yes foil wrap! I remember reading that elsewhere now. Thanks.

I'll try that next time if I need to get a hurry on for a hungry wife. Either that or stuff a sandwich in her mouth ;-)

Just went out for a quick smoke...

Couldn't wait to use the new WSM over the weekend, so I went straight in with a spatchcoked chicken on Friday night. Everything went well ish. Used water in the pan(though I've been to B&Q today to get a clay saucer) and maybe didn't use enough lit lump as it took an hour to get up to temp.

Made a ...

Oh bloody hell, yes. Would never touch that stuff.

Thanks NomNom. I'll try both then. Got a few bags of Kingsford lump to use first.

Re: Unlit coals??

Good to know I won't need to top it up that often. I'm confused even further now as the Low and Slow chap says never use briquettes. Help! Should I not use lumpwood?

Unlit coals??

WSM arrived on Monday and I have a pork shoulder and chicken planned for the weekend. Damn I'm impressed with the build quality.

Been doing more research and looked at the saucer method(off to B&Q). I also got Low and Slow(quite preachy I thought) and he says light new coals to go on it rather than ...

Re: Greetings from the cold cold North

Thanks for all the kind advice guys. What a great forum!

I've ordered a WSM 47cm this morning, as I found a cracking deal on it on the tinterweb. Like the Pro Q British argument, but I'll have the give Yanks their dues; they know BBQ.

My name is Bradders, and I'm a Weber addict. There the truth is ...

Re: Greetings from the cold cold North

So I got the sign off from the SWMBO on my birthday yesterday to get a smoker and I have budget to go to a 18.5 WSM. Thing is though whether to go the a Pro Q Excel or the WSM? What would you chaps do given the choice?

I'm liking the bigger size and the price of the Pro Q but I love the build ...

Greetings from the cold cold North

Hello all,

Long time lurker, joined today.

I've been a keem griller for the last 15 years and 2 years ago got my first "proper" BBQ, a Weber Premium 57cm. I'm am now a very much hooked on smoking with wood chips. Will never forget my first smoked burger off the Weber.
I've experimented with a few ...
