Macro Charcoal Delivery

Not sure if everyone is aware but Macro will now deliver charcoal and there is no need to have an account with them. It's £11.99 for 12kg and delivery is free if you spend over £60 or it's £2.99. It's their usual restaurant grade Fuel Express stuff and I've just taken delivery of a load for the ...

Re: Weber or not

I think it's the wrong time of year for any proper discounts. You will get a much better deal at the end of most peoples, not the die hards on here, BBQing season in the autumn but that will be too late for you. A lot of websites look to have about 20% off at the moment and you can't go wrong with a ...

Re: uds charcoal basket

You don't need a welder you can use wire or bolts and washers to hold the ends together to form the sides of the basket. Then use wire to attach that to the grate for the bottom. Have a look around and you should be able to pick up a cheap BBQ at the moment which you can use for the bottom grate and ...

Re: Favourite side

Got to have coleslaw all the time but made with onions that have been pickled for a few hours. It takes the rawness out and the vinegar goes really well with the meat. It's not too much just enough to complement. Smoked beans are good when cooked under the meat and collect all the dripping goodness.

Re: ProQ Frontier Modifications - Airburner & HeaterMeter

That looks cool, I've been looking at these since I was planning the UDS build. Did you get the kit from tindie.com? Also if you are using the Maverick probes where did you get these from, I've been looking for replacement probes and I can only find sites in the US, with shipping it works out ...

Re: Electric firelighters

If you have a standard heat gun then you can save the cost of either. I've been using one for ages to light the grill. It gets it going in no time. Once the coals catch the air blasted in get is going like a furnace which is good fun withthe sparks flying. I can be cooking in about 10 minutes.

Re: the right barrel

Forgot to say I washed the them first then filled them up to the top with water before grinding the top. One of mine had a solvent so there was a real risk when grinding but I would do it for all of them just in case.

Re: the right barrel

You can use the top for a lid of you grind the outside of the lip, that is what I did . You will see a faint blueing steel line appear as the metal gets thinner. Take you time when you see this so you don't go too deep. When you have ground enough off you should see two faint lines. The lid might ...

Re: Ugly Drum smoker - Fire burning towards the inlet

Thanks for the advice, I was not sure if I was doing something wrong as it looks like most people use one vent to control the temps. Using all the vents has smothed out the hot spot so I have more consistant temps across the grate, so if I upgrade to ball valves I'll just have to get one for each ...

Ugly Drum smoker - Fire burning towards the inlet

Hello all,

I'm in need of some advice as the fire in the basket is burning towards the open air inlet of my UDS. I finally finished the build in August and waiting for the delivery of my Mavrick from the US meant that I did not have time to do a practice run or cook before my holiday. The day I got ...
