1st time beer can chicken

Thanks, i have the carcass in the fridge and will investigate if it's just pink near the bones or in the flesh.

I used a thermocouple to keep an eye on the temperature at the grate when I cooked ribs but it was raining for most of yesterday's cook and it's not waterproof. I'll have to checkout a ...

1st time beer can chicken

Last night I had a lovely meal of beer can chicken (not actually on a can but using a vertical roasting stand) and I'd like to thank this forum for giving me loads of information and opening up the world of real BBQ.

Re: First Rib Adventure

Thanks JEC,

I had to top up the grill half way through, would you have added the half chimney on top of/next to some unlit coals to lengthen the burn?

When do you decide it is time to pour the coals from the chimney? I've not got much experience with either lumpwood or chimney starters, do I wait ...

Re: Hi From Birmingham

Hi Scooby,

Harborne, are you local?

Just finished eating the ribs, very tasty and the meat came cleanly off the bone although they were a little dry.

Re: Hi From Birmingham

Thanks guys, I'm in the middle of my first low and slow (ish).

I bought a couple of sets of tongs from the local catering supplies and will use the fish slice from the kitchen for the minute.

I tried to start a thread in the "New to BBQ" area but it hasn't worked. Really struggling with ...

First Rib Adventure

I am a couple of hours into my first real use of my new weber kettle, I fired it up last night with some very old fuel which didn't burn properly which meant I had to finish the corn and sausages off in the oven to much amusement from the wife.

I'm using the standard consumer grade Big K lumpwood ...
