I got my lid clamp with my barrel. If there are any barrel suppliers/re-conditioners near you, could try that (though you may well have tried that).
I too was having a problem with an ill-fitting UDS lid. Used a pair of pliers to loosen around the rim and seems to have done the trick, as can fix ...

Re: First UDS build
Been using regular Big K lump today. Some small bits at the top but otherwise nice sizeable chunks. And a bargain at £4 for 5kg. Been holding its temp nicely today in my UDS.

Re: Smoking ribs - what to go for?
essexsmoker - probably a stupid question, but did you get the rack of pork ribs from the tesco meat counter? My local tescos only seems to carry them cut into individual ribs, which doesn't have the same appeal. Generally gone with Costco or a local butcher up to now, but would be nice to have a ...

Re: Beef ribs (short ribs)
Giving some beef short ribs a try today for the first time, to christen my UDS. Got four and they're sizable (almost half a kilo each). Cooking them at the same time as pork shoulder, so pretty low at around 230-250F. Bit lower temp than in the Franklin video, but hoping that just means I need to ...

Re: First UDS build
Any idea what the deifference is between regualr and restaurant grade Big K lump. Have easy access to regular and available for a great price, but wondering if worth searching for an upgrade?

Re: "High but Slow" (Gas smoking)
Would you be able to fit wood chunks? I've found these to be much preferred to wood chips, as get a lot more smoke for less effort. Not sure how well it works on gas, though sure some others have tried this.

Re: First UDS build
Noticed The Range has Big K lump for less than £1/kg so will definitely be trying that. Heat beads are probably about 50p/kg extra, so has put me off so far, though will give them a go given the number of recommendations I've seen.

Wanted - Silicone grommets for UDS
Hi,
I'm looking for a couple heat-resistant silicone grommets to use on the side of my UDS to help protect the Maverick probe wires.
Everywhere I've found seems to sell them in bulk, so would be interested if someone has some spare to sell.
Thanks,
Stewart

Re: First UDS build
Seen quite bit of discussion on heat beads. The Rnage near me has heat beads for a few quid more than the Big K briquettes that I usualoly get. Worth the upgrade?
