Re: Hello from Washington state USA

I have a stick burner as well, are there sources of fruit wood there?
We have a product called "Matchlight" that comes in a bag pre-saturated with lighter fluid. Here lighter fluid is shunned! I will always use a weed-burner to start my coals. Lately I have stopped using store bought charcoal ...

Re: Boneless & Skinless Chicken at Comps

As long as the fat has been heated on the grill I don't see why it wouldn't be allowed.
As a judge I don't personally dislike it when the skin comes off, especially when that skin is soft and luscious. But as a judge I have to follow the rules and score it down.
That being said, as a judge next to ...

Re: Hello from Washington state USA

Thanks for the welcome! I'm working on figuring out shipping to the UK. I know it won't be fast, but it'll get there.
Yes the Smokenator and the Ribolater work well together. Seems like there are some educated gents here. What I don't know is. are you guys REALLY using Heat Beads for cooking? :o

Re: My Grillgrates

I'm not sure what the shipping is to the UK but with the dollar difference I would say you would do pretty well. I market 20" to the Mexican restaurants they love them for making Fajita's and throw away their cast iron grates

Re: Boneless & Skinless Chicken at Comps

As a judge with the PNWBA (CBJ#200510) and a cook I love skin! It is my belief that skin should be left on, that being said it is very difficult to get good bite-through without it being rubbery.
The best way I have found to get good skin is to use "Grillgrates" This product allows higher temps to ...

Re: Get yo MoJo - bricks on!

Well glory be!
Someone from England just posted on our site last night about our Mojo Bricks which is what got me here in the first place!
Dr. Sweetsmoke is right. Mojo Bricks are the way to go for consistent sweet blue.
Gotta run to work.
Hope to hear back from you folks soon.

Re: Competition Fuel

I'm new here, from the USA actually, so I have to ask.
What are "Heat Beads"?
Personally I like cherry "Mojo Bricks" for a heat/smoke source. I've never heard of heat beads
Just sayin,,,,
I'm new.

I am 56 and a member of the PNWBA (Pacific Northwest Barbecue Association) A certified judge, and owner and Operator of "Garys BBQ Supplies". We have been having a lively ongoing discussion about the merits of splits (natural wood) vs. "Mojo Bricks" a compressed wood product ...
