Re: Price of brisket in the US
Here's a little secret!!!!!
Your butcher only pays £3.00 per KG for on the bone brisket which are about 16KG in gross weight, about the same price. Offer him £4.00 KG and cut and trim yourself. Mine does it for £65.00 to £70,00 cut and trimmed as it only takes him 10 minutes

Re: Using silicone and ash to increase insulation?
Hi
You can get food safe high temp silicone but you would never be able to make a paste out of it to spread anywhere as the ash would form a film over the silicone and it wouldn't stick. But I'm with PDC7, I wouldn't eat anything off it regardless. Its high temp not flame proof so goodness knows ...

Re: Best recipe/guide ribs in smoker?
Hi John,
I have a GMG DB and just done some Ribs last night.
Trick its to keep it simple at first. Take off the membrane from the rib bones and if not trimmed trim to shape, trim up or you will struggle to get more than 2 in your GMC.
Basic rub used based on-line recipe or Asda sells Reds BBQ ...

Little charcoal lighting Tip
Hi
Just a little tip I picked up at the BBQ champs in KC......................
for those of you struggling with lighting your charcoal try using Pringles or other, yes crisps! the oil in them burns very well and will light any stubborn briquette

Re: Mobile bbq
Hi
Yep I think your butt pricing is a bit out of sync. You should be able to get Pork shoulder for less than £3.00 per kilo, I know I do, even ASDA is only £2.97KG. Bookers do 10KG boxes for £25 or £26.00
4 Kilos of meat with 25% loss = 3KG. Sarnie with 200gms meat each = 15 x £6.00 = £90 less ...
