Hi guys I've just brought a used oil drum and making it into a BBQ it was an empty new oil drum do I just burn it out a few times before cleaning it.

Are barrel BBQ safe

Hi guys I've just brought a barrel to make into a BBQ. However just looked online and there are loads of scare stories about how the insides create caresagents when heated.

Can anyone help with this. Need it all completed pretty sharpish however after reading this I'm a bit worried now.

Update for 2016, So since my post last year my wife and I have had a baby which meant that The Meat Thief catering business was put on hold, we now have an addition to the family and are starting up officially now. We have the Van and currently working on the rest of the bits and bobs that are needed.
