Thanks for the replies.
Regarding the drum, I ordered it and it arrived with the lacquer lining. With hindsight, I should have gone for the one without the lacquer lining. I did a burn a few weeks ago, and then paid for the inside to be sandblasted, so all of the lacquer has been removed ...

I am just starting on my smoking journey and thought I would say hello.
I have purchased a barrel, drilled the air intakes and have done a burn...but it looks like I am going to have to find another barrel as I have seemingly been caught out by the liner issue.

Hi,
I am based in North Wales. I bit the bullet and bought the drum from the link...spoke with them and they confirmed transport of fruit juice, and another supplier confirmed the position.
I have now sourced a washing machine for free...so need to remove drum and then all the air intake parts ...

I am new to the forum, and read this thread with interest as looking to sort out a UDS over the next few weeks.
Did you end up buying the drum off ebay in the link? I am looking to buy a couple from that seller, but just nervous as don't want anything that has had waste in it. Accordingly ...
