Ah the Homesick Texan. I've been reading her blog for years, it was the first place I learnt about barbacoa!

Re: Cheap briquettes at Tesco
I have wondered about that in the past JEC, but my reasoning was based on the packaging. While all of the Fuel Express briquettes come in red bags, some are normal "paper" but others seem to have a vinyl coating instead. But that could be a complete misnomer...

Fuel Express. I've used this brand on six hour low 'n slows before and they seem reasonable enough. Although I fully respect that I dont know if they are good or bad in relation to others!
Could you recommend some good brands?

Cheap briquettes at Tesco
Hi guys,
I hope some of you are able to find a Tescos near you with this deal, but I just managed to pick up ten 5kg bags of briquettes for £10. This was at Brookfield Farm in Cheshunt.
Stocks were nearly gone when I got there, so if you're in the area get there quick! Otherwise, I hope other ...

Re: Rack of pork ribs on Weber One Touch Premium
The issue wasn't so much heat (although it was quite strong), but a matter of flavour. It needed something to cut through the skovials and remind me that there was some rib meat in there.
Anywho, thanks guys
. Now for the brisket!

Re: Rack of pork ribs on Weber One Touch Premium
JEC: You were certainly on the money about the temperature difference at the grillface! I bought an oven thermometer today and at certain points there was a massive variance between the grill and the lid.

Re: Budding BBQ'er
Cheers Wade. I forgot to mention in my opening post that I also have a Smokey Joe, and I'm trying to decide if it's worth buying a Smokey Mountain as well. The SJ is very good for portable grilling on the go... chicken, sausages, burgers, even the odd bit of rib-eye all work very nicely in a pinch

Re: Rack of pork ribs on Weber One Touch Premium
Wade: I did actually have the thermometer over the coals, I'll bear that in mind when I try again tomorrow. I didn't try browning them actually, but I'll bear that in mind as well!
JEC: I had a feeling that so be the case so I'll hunt one down and try again next time.

Re: Rack of pork ribs on Weber One Touch Premium
Thanks for the reply!
I'm not actually sure now. My weber grill has a thermometer in the lid, which I presumed would give me a temperature reading for the whole interior of the kettle.
Is it better to buy a small oven thermometer and have that actually next to the ribs? Or perhaps a digital ...

Rack of pork ribs on Weber One Touch Premium
Hi everyone,
Apologies if this is in the wrong section (I've just arrived).
I've been trying my hand at cooking a rack of pork ribs low n slow on my Weber One Touch Premium, but for one reason or another I just can't get it right... Here's what I've been doing:
