Update for RiverRat:

Pickled then Smoked or Smoked then Pickled?
Either way the pickling masks any smokiness that was there.
So I am keeping to just smoking OR pickling.
I did enjoy the testing, though I probably exceeded the weekly intake.

I take the view that the "weekly intake" is based on a life expectancy of 90+ years, and there will have been lots of times when you didn't comsume said product so on balance you are keeping well within Govt. guidlines. Mind you if it's Mrs Miller's guidlines you are most certainly on your own old chap :D

Thanks for the update, it's good to know that I am not the only one messing with the eggs. I drop a few eggs on the smoker now and again and have taken to eating them as they are, just peeled and on the side of the plate.

PS The weekly intake does not count when you are testing
