Chinese copy pit controllers - any experiences?

Postby Bigpikle » 04 Jul 2016, 10:26

Has anyone had any experience with the eBay digital pit controllers that look basically like the BBQ Guru models? The usual question or low price vs quality is in my head but in some other hobby areas of mine these types of imported products have proven every bit as good or better than the market leader - but not always....

Anyway, experiences appreciated please.

Much the same as you, I've had good experiences with China, and I order/group buy a fair bit of stuff in my non-BBQ persona, so I'll be watching with baited breath to see if there are any positive experiences forthcoming.

I bought a (assume) Chinese PID on ebay years ago for a UDS stoker I made. Still working to this day.

Just pot luck I guess. I suppose it's less about whether ot works and more is it safe.
Lot of Chinese stuff works but can burn your house down, or fry you.
