The Full English. A very English fatty...

If you've been looking at BBQ sites on the web for any period of time you've probably come across the Bacon Explosion, it's awesome. Well we thought it was time us Brits did something akin to this but properly British so we created the Full English, a spicy bbq fatty which contains a full English breakfast.

Here's some pics...

We started off making up a spicy sausage mix. Then we prepared the ingredients for the breakfast filling.

The next job was to assemble all of this into a fatty wrapped with a bacon weave.

Then it was onto the smoker for about 6 hours, glazing towards the end.

In the meantime, we prepared a pizza dough, then rolled it out and spread with BBQ sauce. Once the fatty was finished on the smoker we wrapped it in the dough and baked it for 15mins in a hot oven. This step created the toast for our breakfast :D

Then we served this bad boy up with baked beans and a cup of tea. It really fulfilled the "heart attack on a plate" requirements of a good English breakfast. It was stunning but one slice was definitely enough :D

So pleased are we with the Full English, we've knocked together a website for it. The site explains the steps we went through with loads of pictures. http://www.fullenglishfatty.co.uk

We'd love to invite other people to have a go at doing a fatty with their ideal cooked breakfast ingredients. If you fancy having a crack at one, submit your pics to the Full English Facebook page and we'll add it to the gallery on the website. :D

Cheers,

Steve

That's right up my street, I love a good fry. Only thing I would change is replace the pizza dough with either potatoe farls (we call it fadge) or soda bread like you'd find in an Ulster fry. Must try an Ulster fry one sometime. Aren't You going abit italian there Steve with the pizza dough? ;)

Love the addition of the black pudding, I suppose the Scots would throw in some haggis :P

I was fortunate enough to hear of Steves terrific idea a few days ago and had to give it a go! My version has Sausage, Bacon, Egg, Tomato, Black Pudding and Mushrooms.

It worked really well and dissapearred in a matter of minutes, the down side is I am being pestered to cook another one!!

Of course rather than repeat myself I got a little bored over the weekend and fancied what I call a Dennys breakfast, Pancakes with a side of bacon, of course the lightbulb went off after Steves infectious idea and here are the results,

It took a few minutes for the family to get their head around it but then the compliments started rolling in...

Now i am looking around the house for stuff to wrap in bacon!!!!

That layered pancake one looks great. You could sell those like hot cakes.

would you cook the inners (bacon, pancakes) before you smoke it?

Loving the Denny's. Gives me an idea that I'll have to have a go at.

@Vic we did want to coat it with fried bread but don't have a fryer big enough. The way I see it is the pizza dough is ok because it's an English breakfast inside an American fatty. Texas sausage and Italian-American bread ;)

One thing is for sure, it tasted great. I'm now thinking about what can be my next fatty project :D

OH YES!!!!

Loving the idea of the stuffed pizza dough....your effort came out a lot better than mine (no pics because it was minging!)

Beef Mince
Onions
Shrooms
Bacon (1)
Bacon (2)
Cheese
Herbs
Bread Mix

Make two long slabs of mince
Soften the onions and shrooms
Grill bacon (1) until crispy - cool and chop, break, pound whatever
Grate cheese

Mix the onions, shrooms, bacon(1), cheese and herbs together

Spread this onto the first slab of mince

Put second slab of mince on top and mould into a flatish, elongated burger

Make a bacon weave out of bacon (2)

Wrap the meat mix into the bacon weave

Cook until done

Now make the bread mix up, split into two

Put first part of bread dough into a mould

Chuck in the meat

Top with the second lot of dough, making sure the two doughs join up

Bake until the bread is cooked

+++

I think the oven was too hot because the dough didn't cook as I'd like, but I do fancy having a go at a monster calzone so thanks for the pics!!!
