My Stoker has finally landed!!!

Postby Swindon_Ed » 15 Apr 2011, 12:11

Finally my stoker has arrived at my house :D after 3 weeks MIA in USPS's supplychain :D.

I will be playing with it this weekend on the basic settings (I can't find my network details to link it with twitter or stokerlog :( )

Will be cooking Brisket + Pork Butt for my Brother's brithday, so will be using both my WSM & ProQ for this and also trying some new recipies that i've been thing about for a while.

Will be getting started tomorrow with setting the fan's up and preparing the meat so will post some pictures of it all then.

Finally got to try out my stoker this weekend :D :D :D

Thought i'dtest it with a brisket like this one.

I thought i would try marinade, rub & injection on this one and this is what it looked like before going on the smoker.

Here is a picture of the Stoker in action.

I had a house of hungy mouths to feed so no pictures of it straight off the smoker so here is one of what i have left over.

Sandly not much smoke on the brisket as half my wood feel off the basket and didn't burn but it still tasted great.

The Stoker did a great job using the basic functions but need to get the other functions working and will post more then

I've only used it as a basic controller and i'd buy it just for that.

I was able to put the smoker on last night and go to bed without worrying what the temp's are doing, and it will hopefully mean I'll be able to have more consistent results from my cookers as well.

I've not got the Stoker connected on my network yet. That will be this weeks project :D but looking forward to seeing what else I can do with it :ugeek:

I'm going to be at the may comp' so you can always have a look at it then, and I should have figured it all out by then :?

Ed, do you think that this sytem could be used for the Pro Q's. This kit is just wot I've been trying to find. It would be nice to be able to do night cooks without having one eye open. Hope you don't mind me asking, but wot web site did you buy this from?

Eddie.

Hi Eddie,
Yes the Stoker will work with ProQ cookers. I also have an Exel20 and bought the attachment so once I've got the system fully figured out I'll be posting bits showing both cookers working.

If you're interested in pit minders there are 2 main ones. The Stoker from Rock's BBQ and then BBQ Guru have a number of different systems. I have also seen another system which looked to be a lower cost option but I can't remember who they are so if I remember I'll post it later.
