Rub Ingredient Quantities?

Postby AndyHull » 28 Sep 2011, 08:14

Hi all,

I've been reading about rubs and marrinades and will be doing my first one this weekend on some ribs in the oven, just to see if i like the flavours (etc)

I have been looking at different recipes here and on the net, what i have found though is that most the rubs require large quantities of ingredients!
Not so much large amounts of different ingredients rather large amounts of each individual ingredient.

I have bought some from the local supermarket but to get quantities that are required it will work out much more expensive than the meat!

Where is the best place to buy the ingredients from at a reasonable price?

Many thanks

Andy

Try
http://www.cotsherb.co.uk/index.php

Failing that most rub mixes are enough to do loads of meat, I tend to use 1 tablespoon per side on ribs, slightly less on baby backs so you can always adjust the quantities to suit your needs or store the excess in a sterile airtight jar and it'll keep for a couple of months. A good start is Raichlan's basic rub, only a couple of ingredients, google it or send me a pm if you want the recipe, no need for catering sized packs for this rub!!
