would you also use that as a liquid base during the cooking or would that be overkill, just use water?

I've made my first rub, its a bit overkill, there's 13 ingredients in it :lol: :? ,,,,,,Your rub sounds real good and economical Marcus, I think once I start simplifying mine It'll end up much like yours. :)

Hey Vic!

No worries about how many or few spices are in a rub...it's all about the taste!

Whilst I throw this on pretty much everything, I do also go "native" sometimes and just chuck the meat on with no rub and let the natural meat / smoke flavours do their work!

I do that too with meat sometimes (mean no rub). Although I've had my smoker approx a year, I'm just at the stage of experimenting with all different types of rubs. It's just about finding one that you like (or what other people like). I get my feed back off friends. Ones I know that can be critical and won't hold back on what they think.
