Weber 57cm charcoal sear grate gourmet.

Postby aldo » 10 Apr 2014, 20:45

I received one of these today.looked at it on you tube, but thought I don't know if its worth the £60
Or so to buy.
Well I can say I'm well impressed once out the box.
The cast iron grate is bigger than I thought also the grill rack is a different gauge to the one that comes with the 57 cm Weber one touch.far heavier.,thicker.
Will try a couple of rib eyes on it tomorrow.

Is this a 57cm grate that's cast iron throughout, or the smaller insert for the "Weber Gourmet BBQ system"?

Ah, just picked up one of these myself - although the sear grate was only £30 since I already had the stainless steel adaptable grill that came with the Mastertouch 57cm.

Will give it a try as soon as I can get hold of some t-bone steaks (which is always a pain around here, without ordering in advance). The only downside with this sear grate is that you have limited space in the middle, if it goes well I might upgrade to something like this for full-grill searing.

Yes you are correct, but you can sear 3 steaks depends on size a few minutes each side then put them on outer ring to indirect them, than slap on some more.it's just myself and wife I regularly grill for so ideal for 2 or 3 in one go.
