Just picked up a 3Kg shoulder at £2.50 per Kg by far the largest I've seen at our Asda.

56p per Kilo for chips from Iceland. So far I've managed to avoid meeting Mr Andre ;) :D

Generally the producer bears a large percentage of the profit loss, plus they will use it to get people in to the store. Bear in mind the Woolworth' s concept of a penny profit per item did them well for a long time ;)
