BBQ Patio Roof Shelter

I've started building a BBQ shelter to combat the UK weather and for all year round cooking.

I've been inspired by some of the posts on here like the stuC thread.

The posts are now cemented into ground and im ready to cut the posts preapring for the roof. The wind blows from right to left so ill cut posts on right the lowest, still deciding on roof choice and roof structure. Any tips or advice would be welcome as im winging this as I go

Hi. I used Wickes feather edge fencing boards for my roof and their CLS for the roof supports.

Cheers for your help folks, I like both of these suggestions, ill take a trip to wickes this week.

Scubo doo, what angle of slope did you have for the feather boards?

I didn't measure a particular angle. My shelter is 8ft at the highest and 6ft at the lowest and is 6ft wide so it slopes from 8ft to 6ft over a distance of 6ft. Make sure you only use full length featheredge and no joins because they will leak. I have a friend who made his shelter 9ft long and used an 8ft length and a 1ft piece and it leaked at the joint

Mine is 12 feet long so probably need to look at the polycarbonate like Badboyz or i might try and get some metal sheeting at work.

You certainly need to avoid joins with featheredge length ways. 12ft is a good size so plenty of room. I have filled mine up

BBQ & Patio Roof starting to take shape...

I went with Corrugated Bitumen roofing sheets in the end.

BBQ now in place, still to add worktop/shelf above slats and then install some sort of shutter system to block out wind and rain for winter cook. Thinking of just a bit of wood on hinges that can swing up and sit flush with roof when not required.

Looking good. I made part of mine hinge so it can be closed in rough weather. Mine looks a bit like a stable now though but when it very windy it helps to be able to shut the side
