This does have the bone in... you'll notice in the 2nd image you can kind of see the bone, that's why I think it was cut the wrong way...

Yeah it looks like what you have there is mostly a Boston butt style cut, but with a bit extra It's not cut perfectly, but I definitely wouldn't turn my nose up if that's what you're getting. This pic may help (money muscle highlighted)

I think my issue is how thin it gets on 1 end, where as the butt I got from T&G was same thickness all over.

Also doesnt help that it collapses a little in the middle on this one. You'll see where the bone is it's really thick.

Money muscle being in the middle only means now it's rubbed i'll never find that again

Well picking that thin piece off and eating it as and when it's ready is your privilege for cooking it

Haha that's true but cooking this one to take to a friends tomorrow evening untouched for his 30th. So up at between 5 and 7am, so off to bed now.

This butt cost me £23 from the butcher weighing 4Kg so just shy of 9lbs.

But look at the pictures carefully you'll see its a lot thinner in the middle where the split is - this bugs me some.

Looks fine to me! At very worse you'll get a bit more bark than usual and that ain't no bad thing

Was in makros the other day and i noticed that they have pork or beef ribs for £4.99/kg
They also had what looked like bone in pork shoulders as well, not sure though as in all the plastic its hard to tell.

Anyone bought either from them?

Not seen the shoulder or beef ribs in Makro.
Had both the loin and spare ribs. Not bad. The loins seem to be the same price as the spares so I tend to go for them. They don't need a lot of cooking.

Be careful to check the beef ribs. They might be forerib short ribs.
They cook up OK but aren't really shorties. Check the pack very carefully as there can be a LOT of fat on them.

The bonein the ribs looked fairly large tbh! so might well have been a longer rib chopped up!
