Cast iron plate for the BBQ

Hey winter BBQ'ers!

I'm considering getting decent sized cast iron plate for my 57cm Weber. I'd like to cook onions, mushrooms etc outside on the BBQ like I've seen in a few vids online. Ideally I'd like something that covers most of the grill...any one using something similar?

Regards,

Danny

I loooove cast iron, and can't resist cooking with it and acquiring interesting pieces.

If you want to cover the whole grill - check out the cast iron griddles they use on paella burners.

Otherwise, just get any sized cast iron skillet or pot which suits - BBQ Pit boys on YouTube do something like this.

Something like a Sizzle Pan is ideal and relatively cheap. These are like the little pans you get tandoori served in some indian restaurants where the cast iron pan is pre-heated, and they bring it to your table sizzling. Something like this

You don't necessarily need cast iron either - you can use just a black iron griddle pan which is thick steel (not stainless)

I got a fire bowl for Christmas last year and the family waded in with all the accessories which are really good. You can get cheaper on eBay.

Brilliant, that last square one is exactly what I'm after! I'll check if it fits inside the kettle. Thank you very much for the reply...and I love the pit boy videos too!

The only problem with square is that it doesn't fit into a round kettle very efficiently.

I've got one of these https://www.weberbbq.co.uk/product/webe ... l-griddle/

I'm sure I've seen a full-sized one before but can't find it now.

Try using Grill Grates upside down: http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B002RZWA04/r ... 7FEXJQQD6C

Or your other option is to get a Craycort system, have 1/2 grates and 1/2 griddle - the griddles are flat on reverse side:
