I'd say you'd want about 4/5kg of shoulder, and that may leave you with leftovers (not that that's a bad thing) :D

Don't know if you would want a back-up in the way of a few burgers in the oven / on the bbq. Just incase?

A kilo each for the adults plus half a kilo for each of the kids.......10kg to be on the safe side, you can never have too much pulled pork!

In allseriousness I would over egg it rather than under, pp is one of the greatest eats 2nd time around and sauced and frozen comes up good as new so I would def go OTT.

Of course it also depends what you are serving with it, it has always stunned me when grilling for a BBQ how insane I become. Should the lovely Mrs Tiny serve me a couple of Sausage tonight for my tea I will consider myself perhaps a sausage short, but not a burger, lamb cjhhop, a kebab, a couple of chicken thighs and a steak short of a plateful. But when thinking Q I seem to default to some wild species eating monster, so on second thoughts better safe than sorry go for 15kgs of pork! :)

Cheers

So it's not just me Tiny.......thank the gods for that. I over-face all my guests but that way no-one goes home hungry and I get some righteous leftovers, after the doggies bags have been given out of course :D

I never have left over pulled pork :( unless I hide a bit for pulled pork nachos ;) when everybody has gone home and everything is tidied and cleared away we sit down with a bowl of nachos.
I have some big friends with big appetites :D
Never any harm doing to much food.

 I was with some friends the other evening at a bbq and I was asked, "would you call this a braai; what is a braai?", I normally find it a little difficult to answer that question, but looking around the table, at the chops, chicken, sausage and the quantity thereof, it was clear, this was indeed a braai!

as always, thanks for all the advice gents, I'll cook a big one ;)

I cooked for 12 the other weekend and did 2 x 2.5kg pork shoulders, 6 racks of ribs, bbq beans + slaw + wedges as sides and there was plenty for everyone and quite a bit left over that went into a very nice chilli :) but as the other chaps say.. you can never cook too much!
