There's a link on the hardware page of the wiki called quick and easy and it will order all the main parts from mouser, they ship to the uk. It's £12. there are some parts from another supplier called digi-key. Those parts were delivered in 3.5 days. I haven't totalled it up but it's around £90. I don't need the pit fan control but i got it in case i pass it on to someone else, i wanted the 3 food probes and the wifi monitoring. The main thing is i want to play

It's designed to run from a 12v supply so it can drive a fan or servo, i added the white USB cable so i can power it from a 5v usb supply as i don't need the fan.

I'm going to give a full test run next week.

EDIT: There's an iphone app as well called Pit meter, still beta though

I reckon everything has cost £145. I was lazy and got all the parts from the US, except the Pi. So postage was a big factor. I did buy a complete set of probes for £37, so if you have a maverick you can use those probes. You could probably source most of the bits from RS components or Maplins but the case is made by a couple of forum members with 3D printers. I think this is equivalent or better that the wifi BBQ guru. It does have full PID and fan control.

I decided to try it this weekend and i'm doing a lump of pork shoulder.

The software showing a graph of the timeline, i'm not using the fan but the software shows it functioning:

Overall i'm impressed with the heatermeter and i'll be using it from now on. I've had it running on my tablet, android phone and iphone.

Looking at putting one of these together myself, as I have a spare Raspberry Pi kicking around. Does anyone know where is the cheapest place to get all the parts from? The wiki lists US suppliers and I'm guessing that's not necessarily the cheapest option.

Actually the US was the easiest option. There's a complete shopping list on the wiki that will add everything to your cart and the postage was $12. I did look at RS components and from there 10 is the min order for most items. So that could cost more.

The 3D printed case was $25 with $15 shipping but well worth it as it finishes the project.
