I got given a set for the birthday last month. The tongs themselves hold a fair weight and are pretty hefty. The issue is the opening. A straight edge opening means you get some nasty pinches as you open and close them and they hook together with a catch inbetween them so you cant pick up anything thin or small without them locking in place usually with some skin inside.

Pure gimmick. Best tongs I ever had were with my grillslinger sport. After 5 years with the rubber grips melting and perishing I enquired about buying spares. The fellas sent some free from NZ! Top product, top service and wholly recommended for everyone's birthday list!
