Really clever idea, nice indirect zone for those doing low and slow on a kettle. Looking at the grease and stuff inside his kettle reminds me why I love my Egg so much

What are the advantages of using the Vortex? im assuming it funnels and directs heat, but for low and slow, using a contained burn area would it now speed up the burn of the fuel? making it run out faster?

If you watch the video, for low-and-slow they put the charcoal on the outside of the ring using the snake method, leaving the middle indirect heat.

I have not looked properly BUT the dinky bucket bbq you can buy in tesco for about £7 look like they have a ready made funnel inside, would just need the bottom cutting off with a hacksaw

I like the look of the vortex, I might either buy one or try to make one once I'm finished building the air injector that I want to use with my heatermeter 4.0.

I have a vortex and it works a treat. Probably some of the best chicken wings I have done on my kettle right off the bat. Really nice and crispy skin but still super moist meat. One thing to be careful of with it is the height. It is actually too tall for my 2005 Performer, with the grate resting on it rather than on the bowl tabs. Spoke to the guy who makes them and he is happy to try and help out.
