American offset - help!

Post by smokeyBandit »

Hey,

I am on hols in America at the moment, I couldnt resist going to to garden section of the local Walmart to check out the BBQs. Was gutted as a result, They are so cheap!! The weber one touch premium is only $79 dollars I just purchased on in the uk for 175 quid!

Also found an Oklahoma Joe offset, now before going any further, I want to point out that I had a landman Tennessee as my first smoker, it was a PITA, I loved it but it was too temperamental with temps. The metal was thin it was usable after mods, but not great. This OJ is pretty impressive for such a cheap smoker (268$) the metal is about 3 times as thick as the landman I had and it's much much bigger.
I have a PRO Q which I love , but part of me yearns for another offset as well. Any thoughts on this, also advice on shipping from the US?

We Brits do get the royal screw job when it comes bbq's!

$79 for the Weber, we are getting robbed, could buy 4 of them to 1 in the UK

Be nice to but x10 of them and x4 your $790 in the UK, but shipping always a killer.

I know dude, the prices were so cheap, even smoking wood / lump was less than half price.

I really wanted to get the OJ Smoker, it looked so much nicer than the COS's I have seen over here, but Walmart wouln't ship to the UK, it weighed over 80 kg so shipping myself would have been uber expensive.

Consoled myself by picking up a few rubs, some Chipotle and Raspberry bbq sauce and some ground Chipotle's, not quite the same thought :)
