Weber Drip Tray or Supermarket Foil Trays

Hi,

Is there any difference between the Weber Drip Tray and supermarket's own branded foil trays? I'd be using the trays as a water pan option.

Only the fact that they cost at least twice the price for the Weber ones, Planetbarbecue sell the Landmann ones which are normally good value and perhaps a little taller than the super market versions. If it's just for water with no food contact you could use a metal one (steel) and wipe it out afterwards, will save you money in the long run.

As the man says the weber trays are monster expensive and the only difference is they have Weber" dented into the bottom of them. Persolly went to IKEA and purchased some of there splendid sturdy metal tray which once wrapped in cheap foil does splendidly.

I tend to keep trays from bought food and clean them out. Or pinch any metal ones the wife chucks.

I re-use old ones that come with food we buy. Have a huge stock now and just throw out when they develop holes!

Turkey trays are in the shops now and really cheap. Quite thick too so can be washed and reused a few times.

I know this is a broad church and there is not a right answer, but in this case I assure you there is. The IKEA steel trays are about a £5 note, they are sturdy to an degree that I wager good folding money that if we were to duel 1 on 1 striking each other on the top of the swede in turn (presume foolish beer consumption as a precursor) then you would go over first with your foil tray Turkey, Weber or whatever.

And when you are in IKEA spen an extra £5 note and get there "expandable pot lid tidy" which folds out to be an 5 rack rib rack, and its expandable nature ensures no rub related scrapage during the insertion process (ooh Matron titter you not)

Foil trays, bad, Weber foil trays bad and expensive, IKEA steel trays good and deadly in the hands of an melon busting BBQ ninja!
