The units sold on Ebay are seconds. There will be a small, if not obvious blemish in the case. We have very high standards to maintain here at ETI.
The cheaper units sold on Amazon are those cased in a soon to be discontinued colour, such as purple or dark green
The other units are sold at the same price that they are on our main websites

Mines arrived a couple of days ago and was in perfect condition. I like the calibration certificate too...impressive to see such a high standard in a product.
I'll hopefully be putting mine to the test shortly.
Hi Alan, I got mine yesterday and found that it didn't stabilise that quickly. I found that the whole number was fairly steady but that the decimal dropped over time and then affected the whole number. This was over a period of more than 2 or 3 seconds. The over all effect was a 2C drop over about 30s. While my little orange salter home thermometer was stable. was from amazon or ebay but from the ETI shop. It might just be that the salter unit isn't registering the drop?

Can you perform a crushed ice test with the unit. If the reading is not stable then we will be more than happy to replace the unit with another. The Thermapen comes with a 2 year warranty.

To be honest, I find the same thing. I'm trying to upload a video now of me taking the thermometer from room temp to jabbing some ice in the freezer; it takes a good 20 seconds or so to go from 27C to -18C. Could just be the way I'm using it though?
I tested mine in a crushed ice bath and it was much more stable but took a minimum of 10s. Which for about half the price I don't mind. But how do I know it's accurate if it's not doing what it should do? All I want is accurate I don't mind if it takes 10 or 20s to get there.
