New WSM 57cm purchased and really pleased with build quality and glad I went for the larger version.
Just a question about use of 'restaurant' lumpwood charcoal in it - user guide suggests only briquettes. Is there any reason for this? Will lumpwood really cause damage to the smoker?
Plan to fire it up and season it this weekend, so any feedback and suggestions gratefully received.

Weber don't sell lumpwood - that's why

Plus briquettes burn more steadily. I've seen people using lump in them though.

I only use lump from Makro in my UDS and also in my weber OTP. Never had a problem.

Thinking about it , can't you use the pizza adaptor on a 57cm kettle? That gets really hot. I can't imagine that a WSM is a different paint job.
