Fire Mountain Everest 4 burner review

Postby ex_directory » 03 May 2016, 08:25

First post after lots of reading...

Been looking at barbecues since last summer, had my heart set on a 4 burner Outback or BroilKing. 4 burner being the forum choice here, but could never quite part with the money - fired up my old broilking yesterday, poor thing needs to be put to rest so time to buy!

I keep coming back to the Fire Mountain Everest 4 Burner Gas Barbecue though, getting great reviews on amazon, cost £199.

This is about half what a good Outback/BroilKing will cost for the same.

Was hoping for a more independent review if anyone has got one, or any thoughts on this model?

Short Spec:
• One gloss enamelled cast iron cooking griddle: 42cm x 38.5cm
• One gloss enamelled cast iron cooking grill: 42cm x 38.5cm

• Durable and long life stainless steel hood and control panel
• Wire warming rack
• Built in temperature gauge
• Electronic piezo ignition, so incredibly easy to light
• Includes propane gas regulator
• Assembled size: 144cm wide x 56cm deep x 106cm high

Can you get spares? This is the #1 question you should be asking. If not, when you need to replace a burner (they all need replacing), you may have a £200 piece of scrap metal instead of a BBQ. If spares are available - how much are they and how long will they be available for?

This is the problem with my old broil king, getting rust holes in the burner. But any excuse for a new barbecue, it has probably done me 10 years.

The question is whether this burner will do 10 years in which case the barbecue will probably want replacing too.

A search of parts for fire mountain reveals nothing. Not sure they even have a web site.

I have a fully stainless steel BBQ - the only things which have needed replacing in 10 years are the burners and the heat deflectors. Fortunately spares are available - and i've had this thing more than 10 years. Burners will not last you 10 years - not even stainless ones - i've changed mine two times already - and they are stainless.

Honestly - I cant recall exactly. But I'm thinking about £400 - £500 from Costco. It was over 10 years ago. I just took the pressure washer to it last week in preparation for the grilling season ahead :D This weekend looks like a winner to me.

Wow, that's a top bit of kit. £400 is a lot of money now for a gas bbq but back then...

Doing well though by the sounds of it. [THUMBS UP SIGN]

Buy cheap, pay twice. Still, you have to do your homework. Lots of these Costco grills were sold, hence you can get spares - from China no less! After sales support is essential. If you can buy spare burners up front - you WILL need them.

Saw this - may be of interest

You don't need to be a costco member to buy online, but I think you pay 5% premium.
