Their website says not suitable for use on a hob - so it's probably not going to do it any good, but break....? Worth a go?!

Whats the dimension? You might get away with a small cast iron pan like a griddle?

Or something similar in metal I can put a clay tray into.
Its 10" in diameter at the grill.

that would work - could get some steel rods and bend them to shape to suspend it from the fire ring just under the grill.

Drill four holes and add some bolts to hold it on the top of the fire ring with a gap around the edge for the fire to breath....

In the interim could you not fill it with sand or, dare I say it water? (Sorry don't know if that would cause problems to the system). You can after all boil an egg in a brown paper bag, provided there is still water in it to dissipate the heat. Think the pyrex is the way to go, stay away from the cheaper initations.

Regarding the hinge issue, I've heard back from the technician who confirmed its a design issue. This years model does actually have a hinge mechanism on both sides and they'll ship me one when they have stock.
Still haven't lit a fire in it yet! Stop raining!!
