Just don't go to Grill at 31 in Wakefield. Great reviews etc, but went there a couple of weeks ago - no ribs, BBQ'd lamb no longer on the menu, and "smoked chicken wings" tasted as though they had just been shoved into the oven for a while and smothered in commercial sauce. Awful! Gets one star for being open!

Found this line from the write-up quite confusing;-
Burgers are made from un-minced rib meat which has been cooked on the bone

I work in Wakey, thanks for the tip.

Have the ribs gone permanently, or had they just run out?

Did it used to be good?

:?

Keith, the text at the site sounds a little forced, sort of faux-Deep South. And whilst the proprieter appears to be a Mr. 'Billy Bob', there's no 'About' section saying what his background is.

I couldn't care less if he's from Louisianna or Batley, as long as the food is good, I just hope the food is more authentic than the spiel.

Sorry I'm still trying to figure out how you make burgers from unminced beef that's already been cooked? Are they saying you get a patty of slow cooked beef rib in lieu of a fresh cooked juicy burger. If so what's the difference between their burger and a pulled beef sarnie :?

I don't care where the guy comes from or his roots if he can cook great BBQ at good prices. :)

On e of my old mates contacted me the other day. We meet up a couple of times a year for a beer and something to eat in Leeds.

I might give this place a go. Unusual cooking method, but not necessarily a bad one as such, I suppose.
