I have heard of people using small wooden sheds like this for smoking lots of sausage.

It just needs an external smoke generator and some ducting to bring the smoke in.

Old filing cabinets, wardrobes, ovens anything really that has a reasonable seal & adaptable for shelving....

As long as they are weather-proof - and it passes the wife-test, yes, you can use anything.
