It's all about wants and needs, is what you want ACTUALLY what you need? OR could you get by with less than you want?

Re: what smoker to buy ?????
Keith, keith, keith,
Read your sig block, read my sig block. If it was about what we need would I have a sparkly new Outback sat in a box in my front room for me to build tonight?
I know the hunter was 8yo, and at £199 the new one was an absolute billy bargain, but when has bbq ever been about waht is needed.
I hefted a Weber Ranch at the weekend, have absolutely no ideawhat you would possibly do with something that size, but part of me still wants one...........
I think it is in the chromosones, I mused on whether we should downgrade to a 2 burner gas, from the reaction of my 12 year old you would have thought I was suggesting we dressed in womens clothes, he was adamant we needed the Weber monstor with the 6 burners and rotisserie attachment......
You know its the truth......
Cheers

Well now you're just confusing me with jedi mind tricks...
What I want is an efficient smoker that's well insulated with a big capacity, so I can cook for groups of friends... and I can set it going overnight and trust the temps will hold... just realised I've threadjacked too.. sorry!!
But what I need is probably smaller!

You can always insulate a bullet smoker on the exterior. I've seen some sort of blanket used before - other members here will know what to buy/use for sure.

Tiny I agree wholeheartedly, but we were trying to give sensible advice. I want Toby's set-up, I NEED Toby's set-up but due to force of circumstances I have what I have
Ok, I've seen reports and pictures of folks across the pond using adapted boiler jackets & thermal lagging to insulate their smokers.

I use a fire blanket and a modified water tank jacket with my UDS, but only in very cold weather.
IMHO wind plays more havoc with temps than cold.
