It's pretty good compared to some coals. I have never used that particular range and found a lot of them burn too quickly so was getting through a lot of fuel in long cooks. Let us know how you get on.

£7 for a 12 kg bag of restaurant grade! Very cheap. As for the quality, pieces ranged in size from very small to about 4x the size of my fist. The burn is undoubtedly the longest, hottest burn I've had from any charcoal. Win.

Dunno what they charge for delivery, I guess it depends how much you want. I drive out there (Peak District) to get mine but most of their business is in the delivery market. They have been in business since the 18th century!

Sorry to ask another question, but I hope any answers may also be helpful to the OP.

Does lump wood charcoal or briquettes survive a winter in a garage? Or do we end with damp fuel in the summer?

I havent had any problems with charcoal over winter just remember to keep it off the ground.

If anyone is interested getting a couple of pallets of heatbeads in about 10 days and will be selling 7kg bags for £8 each minimum order of 10 which will have to be collected from Surrey GU10 1BP

if heatbeads are made from charcoal, & all the time and effort goes into making them, why is a plain bag of charcoal so expensive?

locally produced lump is very time consuming and the blue bags are imported so have to absorb shipping costs, its all about volume, weight, shipping etc

so whats a 20kg bag of charcoal worth in England???

Most places charge rip off prices for poor quality charcoal. Go figure. But, with that said, decent charcoal from a decent manufacturer is a hell of a lot cheaper.

Heat Beads £8 for 7kg
Restaurant grade charcoal £7 for 12kg

I've not used heat beads, so I can't comment on how efficient they are, but with that sort of price difference I'm sticking to decent lump.

My guess would be that gas, in large canisters, will be a cheaper, more efficient alternative to charcoal, but it's not as much fun
