Well, after a shaky start I ran out of money and talent and it all just sat in the garage doing nowt for the last two months.

Yesterday morning I gave myself a kick up the 'arris and redid the firebox, designed the slide out ash box and did the top, sliding, part of it, cut and offered up the the baffle plates and the lips for the inside of the door opening

I have the drum in the Land Rover to take to the shot blasting place at lunch and when I get it back I'll fix the baffles in place, attach the lid and do the frame for the two shelves it's having.

I still need to make the fire basket which will be a 14"x12" cube.

I'll be honest, the metal sheet in the box is only 3 mm so I am going to just see how it copes and maybe put a thicker baffle (5mm) sloped from above the fire basket to direct the heat and smoke into the drum but I'll see how the first few burns go before deciding.

As usual, your uncle Dan has been a bit crap with the old measuring, I added a sliding air vent to the front door of the firebox which has 4x 2" holes, the only problem is I forgot to allow the space for a blank so when it is fully open there are currently 4x 2" holes and when I fully close it......... there is 1x 2" hole  I'll fix that though

In my case it was measure, measure again, draw on object, measure again, then still cock it up

I'm going to 'remodel' an old bike trailer so that I can have a smoker trailer which will hold the smoker, the coal, the wood, gazebo, tables and a couple of chairs, then later on gas bottle and gas stove (camping one for now).

Here is the result of yesterdays sudden flurry into action

Ha, just to be clear, it's an old bike trailer that the motorbike went on to be towed behind the car, not a trailer attached to a motorbike.

Although........
