I have two air rifles for same reason, Wabbits! Daystate X2, 10 shot AGS LiteW8, 8 shot
X2 is big and heavy and mainly used with night vision in open fields, AGS is as the name suggests very light and being a carbine easy to carry and use in wooded areas both are .22 and have put many a free ranger in the pot, pan or pie.... Not used them for ages tho and can't remember smoking one, will have to dust them off and have a go at Si's recipe now that he a celeb.....
I dont think the makers would like this, BUT I could take the sights off, use the gun to hit in fence posts all day long, put the sights back on AND it would still shoot straight, West German version of the AK 47 air rifle!!!! Oldies are Goodies. Si
Simon u sound like the kind of bloke id get on with. I've just bought a .22 off a friend and getting practice in. My other mate who has a farm 100 acres said I can go shooting rabbits and phasent. So gonna start doing that soon. Cant wait. To get some home caughr food on my home made smoker. Definately going to put rabbit on mine. Good thing is if I csnt shoot anyone of the butchers in ttown does exotic meats like bison and african game but also lots of stuff like rabbits. And quite cheap really gutted and dressed £3.50.
Ive not tried it my self. My dad said wild rabbit is slightly stronger like pheasant is compared with chicken. And to be honest pheasant tasted exactly the same as chicken so im gonna hazard a guess the same would be saidcfor wild/farmed rabbit
