cheers dave! its probably to big for my needs but i believe they are near enough the same smoker just one is smaller? I havnt heard many bad reviews at which is very assuring.

Yeah features wise they seem identical, just the frontier is a bit smaller. You can also buy stackers to add another level of cooking space and get the step up grills, and being that they're modular the ability to turn it into a portable kettle BBQ is great

I would defo go for a UDS if you can be bothered to build it.
You can buy a drum for about £25 and the rest of the stuff shouldn't be more than £50, so the whole thing should be around £75, depending on how pretty you want it to look. I think you can get away with 1 3/4" ball valve too, as you don't need much air for low and slow. You can always add another if you need to. Also you don't need to bring the ball valve up on bends which makes it easier and cheaper.
I think my local Sainsbury is selling a little smoker for about £85. No idea what it's like though.
