Come on then guys, let the debate begin!

is it brinkman or webber?

is it mountain or one touch?

i fancey a new cooker this year and have the one touch and brinkman smoke n grill (plus about 4 other BBQ's for differing usages.

I see on the web and ebay there are barrel type ones at £70 ish to £100 for a double one? are these made of tin? are they any good? or do i need to go for the heavy duty type like the brinkman? or do i get one made ? who by?.

Sorry guys so many questions i have to catch up with, is a fire box best? and what this about using clay dishes? leave this question i will get to ask in a bit under a different heading so i can understand this.

Before anyone one asks i want to stay away from gas so a shove in the right direction would help please.

I have a Brinkmann grill that I have used for smoking, and whilst it did an OK job it is a grill, if I want burgers or steaks or prawns or anything quick this is what I use.

I also have the Pro Q Excel 20 for smoking / slow cooking / cold smoking....OMG! What a good bit of kit! It holds temps well, is easy to use and clean and takes a whole load of food.

Using it for cold smoking is a doddle (esp. if you get the cold smoke generator) and turns out fantastic cheese and outstanding dry cured bacon (you'll need soem Supracure for the bacon).

Honestly, I am in no way affiliated to Pro Q, just a happy Customer that's all!

We also use a Pro-Q, not sure if Toby still has some but he may have!

We bought ours about 10 months ago and we love it, it's our baby, and we manage to cook some great food on it. Some, cook much more than we have so far (Xmas Dinner etc) but if you have limited funds this is definately a good start and some great results will be had. Check out Slap Yo' Daddy on the pitmasters, they use them for all their competitions too.

We are not tied in to the Pro-Q but would defo suggest it to anyone who asks.

Do they not use the WSM???
Mind you I'm still one Series 1.

I'm a complete novice and bought a WSM 4 weeks ago and it is a doddle to cook on.

Another vote for the WSM here, you'll see that this will be 50/50 either way you'll have fun.

Who's Toby?

Toby is the President of the Society. He has taken responsibility for organising, funding, hosting the activities of the society outside of the forum. Generally all the competitions, fund raisers and promotional events.
