hey, decided to try this out for myself so hopped over to homebase and picked up a 36 cm dish, however it sits squarely on the top of my 47 cm wsm's water pan and i figured that the fat and cooking juices will overflow onto the fire. there didnt look to be a slightly smaller one in homebase, so if anybody can help me with an appropriate size and shop i would be eternally grateful. cheers

I had the same one in my 47cm WSM and never had any problems with it, if you are cooking something really fatty then you can always use a disposable foil pan if you are worried, I found the larger one worked better than the smaller one as it kept all of the fat out of the water bowl and didn't move in the bowl

thanks jec. i saw your post on an earlier thread and that is why i bought that one. yours said 34cm though, mine is proper snug to the lip. still, nothing ventured nothing gained. smoke on for tomorrow it is then! cheers

Sounds exactly like my one maybe they've changed the measurement?! Weather looks good today I hope you can try it out

I picked up a 36cm clay saucer from B&Q and it seems to sit ontop of the water pan - the lower grill tray seems to rest on it though, is that right or is my grill tray too low / saucer to high & big? (i've just got a new WSM so i'm making sure i've got it all right!)

On a 18.5" WSM the saucer will fit fairly flush in the top of the water bowl. The grill should sit on the grill brackets still but may also be touching the saucer rim.

I get my saucers from B&Q so I assume we have the same type.
