silver side beef

Got some family and friends coming round tomorrow to watch footy on the telly then have something eat.
So I've just looked in the freezer and noticed that I've got a big piece of Silver side beef
Hmm, I wonder what I could do with it?
Answer: Its now in the process of defrosting with a view to BBQing it tomorrow.
I was just going to season it then place it on the BBQ.
I notice some people give their beef a pasting of mustard before cooking so will try that myself.
Has anyone else got any tips on how to BBQ a silver side joint of beef?
Any idea's are most welcome.

Hey Mark,
I've done a few silversides. If you see this tonight, the meat will benefit from marinading overnight. I go one of two ways with it.
a) I marinade in a good ale, porter or stout, with some crushed garlic in. Then I hit it with a simple salt and pepper rub and off we go.
b) It's good with a honey and soy marinade. mix some honey and good quality soy sauce with some garlic and chinese 5 spice (and optional chilli for extra kick). then as you're smoking your meat you can reduce some of the marinade with some extra honey to make a glaze for the end of the cook. By reducing the marinade you'll boil it up so it's safe to use.

Thanks for your idea's Steve.
Unfortunately I did'nt get to read your reply till this morning so I went with the salt, pepper, mustard and a Montreal Steak seasioning mixture I got when in Canada some years ago.
I cooked the beef for around 6 hours and it came out fine, with lots of happy faces at meal time.
I fancy the idea of a beer marianted beef so may try that next time!

I like Montreal steak seasoning and have a copycat recipe for it if anybody wants it.
