Tesco Ribs

Post by Tyrone1Wils »

Hi guys, Near enough finished my UDS build so decided to go to Tesco to get some cheap ribs to practice on.

When I got there I saw they had these ribs which I was surprised at as they are pretty big and have a lot of meat on them.

They call them "meaty ribs" and they cost £ for around a 2KG rack.

Just wondering if anyone has used these and what type of cook time they had. Also if needed how would I go about trimming them?

Cheers for any help.

If it helps I can take it out of the packet and take a picture of the thickness

They were in the section with the rest of the fresh meats, not from the butcher counter. Right next to the regular racks of ribs. This was a Tesco Extra and a big one at that.

Just about to upload some more photos as I took it out of the packaging. Looks like its got some of the belly on top.

Edit: Heres the pics.

Next to a OXO cube for reference.

They are good looking ribs, I asked at my local Tesco, which is a large "Extra" and they haven't had any in, nor did they know about them. They didn't have any other ribs in stock either, only the reheat frozen ones

I was shocked as I'd never seen these before, I might go back and stock up

The ribs have the belly attached at the top so going to cut that off and attempt to make some bacon!

I'll let you all know how the cook goes.

Don't trim too much off or you'll end up with skinnys again.

Yeah I'll try not to, never trimmed anything like this before so will be tough. But atm i think there is a bit too much meat on them.

I've got two racks so one can be practice!

From the responses here, I think I got lucky and my Tesco stocked some good ribs.

If I cook them well and they taste good I'll go back and buy a few racks and freeze them
