Second UDS Cook, Ribs and Pulled Pork
Posted: 04 Aug 2013, 20:19
Hi again guys.
Today I decided that I would do another cook on my UDS, this time being just one rack of ribs to test a rub and a sauce that I had made and then a bone in pork shoulder for some good ol pulled pork.
I haven't got a huge amount of pictures so I'll keep this short. The pork shoulder was around 5.5lbs so not a biggie but it was only 4 of us eating it plus some ribs each.
Only have a pic of the pork shoulder rubbed up. Here it is.

Unfortunately I only got a picture of the pork pulled and not whole, I didn't get the bark I wanted this may be due to the amount of sugar in my rub.

This pork was juicy and tender. I've tried to make pulled pork in the oven before which was okay but man, this pork with hickory smoke was off the rails. Best pulled pork I've had I've eaten some at London restaurants and this was 100 times better.
The smoke ring was a beautiful sight.
And here is the only picture of the ribs I had but compared to my first rubs I cooked these were so much better.

The first ribs I cooked I feel like I left them in foil for a bit too long as they were fall off the bone tender and I like my ribs with a bit more bite.
These ribs this time were perfect still moist and tender but held on to the bone until you took a bite leaving a clear look at that section of bone.
This post was a bit longer than I intended but I'm so pleased with my UDS build and will be using it a lot more and experimenting with other foods.
Here's one last shot of the food on the plate with some home made chips (fries for you guys) and the sauce that I made using Matt318's Dr Pepper Sauce and man was that good! everyone enjoyed it so thanks for the recipe
