Hello folks,

Im interested in purchasing a decent coolbox to store raw meat for comps/events and was interested in peoples experiences.

Icey Tek and Yeti seem to keep popping up but they are big money, are they worth the extra dosh? They promise some serious days of chilling just from a couple of ice packs.

Not catering quality by any means, but I bought one of these from Costco for about £45 & reviewed really well on keeping hot / cold.

I've not tested how good it is over time but certainly had no issues for 24hrs keeping drinks cold. Bought it mainly for resting meat, but wasn't until I put my first butt in there I realised just how big it was!

Cheers mate, that is super cheap tho - I may buy one just for keeping the cider cold

I was really after something huge for semi commercial use. A few more googles and ive found this one

They sold those at costco too - but it's probably too late, way out of season. Not been there in a while, but i bet the xmas stuff is out there already

If you don't want to spend the money on the big igloo coolers get some of the big coleman cool boxes. It's what we use when we cook in the US.

Yep, can recommend the big coleman ones. We have a big 110 lt or so job. We dont bother with the ice boards just a few bags of ice from Booker. Kept meat fine all weekend.
I also have one of those igloo ones. When I bought mine amazon.com was having a special. It was actually cheaper to buy it from the states and get it shipped over than buy it here.

I will check out the coleman ones, ive signed up to a few coolbox places and hopefully as summer is on the way out there might be some deals.

Nick - do you rate the igloo more than the coleman, if the price was the same?

The igloo style ones do look awesome and they make cushions for them so you can use them as a seat

Another vote for the coleman boxes. A friend of mine makes pork pies and sells them at farmers markets and puts two of these to great use.

I have two colemans and they have lasted really well, I like the raised lid on the igloo however they dont feel as robust and i tend to mistreat everything............................
