I was thinking. Help! No, really. I'd love to build a structure in the garden to be able to cook under whatever the weather. I use a parasol at the moment which really keeps the worst of the weather out. I don't use it on windy nights though. It stops the straight down rain and just about does the job when I have BBQ withdrawal.

Anyway, what innovative ways of keeping dry do you guys have to keep the BBQ going?

I've just installed a shade sail, used it the first time at the weekend & works great. I have a side area between my garage & a sub-station & a 3x2m sail works great, gives me about twice the dry area as the parasol did, and is properly waterproof.

It has so far coped with high wind & rain without any issue. Sail was about £40 and the temp mounts with rope & eye hooks etc was about £60. I didn't want it permanent as it's a great sun trap.

Would love a full structure but the price of some were too much for me to justify.

I just get wet

We have a gazebo over the tables & chairs and a large parasol for the bbqs, however the gazebo has lifted in the past and am looking for some anchor bolts to hold it down, but we have paving slabs so it's taking a bit of research

I bought one of those 'instant' 3mx3m gazebos on Ebay for about £60 at the start of the summer, which has proved invaluable.

If it looks like rain, it can be popped up in about 5 minutes flat.

And if it clears up later on, it comes down in the same time.

It came with three sides that can be attached, but I've never needed them as the rain never gets anywhere near the grill.

Problem with gazebos is the wind. One gust, and it becomes a WMD

I bought a log store, and erected it at the back of my garage.

It protects the BBQ, but not the BBQer, but that has never really been an issue. As it is a pellet grill, it is mostly running without my having to hover over it.

Keith, we drilled holes in the patio and screwed the gazebo down. Could you not do something similar?
