Hi all

Has anybody got one of these and uses it on a Pro Q Frontier????

Thinking of asking the wife to get me one for xmas but does the standard one fit on a Frontier and does it save on charcoal much, i like the idea of a constant temp and not having to get up at 4am to add more coals. It'll also please the wife if the maverick alarm isnt waking her up lol

Thanks all

Hi Mate
I use the IQ on my Drum for cooks when I can't be there to look after it.
They work very well and I have had no probs with it.
They come with kits for Webers etc, but I made mine work with some plumbing fitting.
If you can't get a specific adapter then use one of the small single size snake and pigmy pudding tins with the appropriate sized hole drilled in it to fit the IQ pipe, then secure it with a Hook Bolt.

Thank you Si

Do they save a lot on charcoal??

I enjoy the long cooks and being able to look after the smoker during the day but some overnight cooks would be better to leave unattended for sometime.
I do have small boys so certain times i'll have to be playing with them and entertaining them while the wife is at work, i think the Pitmaster could be very helpful at times.

Thanks again

In my experience it never saves on charcoal usage but then again don't think I ever laid any attention to it, on the WSM it gave perfect stable temperatures which was the goal. The WSM kit will fit the ProQ. A wise investment for a bullet smoker in my opinion.

Thanks JEC

It'll will be going on the xmas list then.
I always have to add more coals on an overnight cook so hopefully it'll make it last just that bit longer and let me sleep all night

Thanks again

I've used the IQ on both of the Excel 20, frontier and in competitions and it have served me very well. The Webber attachments do fit both of the pro Q's and the last time I used it with the frontier I had it constant temp at 250f for 11hrs so if set up right no waking up in the middle of the night is needed. I couldn’t recommend these any more than I have. But you do have to give time to get to know the pro's and con's and once you know how to use it properly, they work like a dream.

Enjoy
