Royal Q Pit Crew

Roayl Q Pit Barbecue Berkshire Royal Q was formed in April 2009 to compete on the BBBQS competition circuit.

The team is made up of Steve Heyes and Neil Welsh, 2 software engineers and Lancastrian exiles based in Reading, Berks. Although we are actively looking to recruit a designated driver, er.. we mean third member.

We are both keen cooks and have become obsessive BBQ'ers. We have a pretty anarchic approach to cookery and we're happy to work with different flavours and break from the norm. The food is good most of the time but competitive BBQ has been, pardon the pun, a baptism of fire!

Our first season has been relatively succesful, apart from our collapsing gazebo trashing our desert at Rother Valley and our point blank refusal to listen to advice about not making our own sauce for the meat categories, we've done ok. Steve ended up on the BBBQS team at the American royal this year and has learned a lot about cooking for competition rather than cooking for eating. Roll on next season!!!!!
