I've just fired up the WSM and have 3 babybacks sat under some Slap Yo Daddy rub (a first for me), let's see how good the wisdom of Harry Soo is!!
What have you all got cooking this weekend?
Who's making the most of the sunny October weather?

A day off?!! I thought you were made of sterner stuff than that
Be ready in an hour, just making some onion rings to go with them for a change.

Shame or you flight but if it's meant to be it will be, stay home and enjoy the funny sun.
Onion rings all gone, but will put a few extra on for you next time.

Re: Who#s making the most of the sunny October weather?
Our local butcher only got back from holiday on Friday and I was not impressed with the meat that he had on display yesterday morning. No ribs available at all!. Ended up just roasting a chicken, port shoulder and a sirloin in the Weber.
Heading to the States for a couple of weeks next Saturday (touring) so will not be putting much on the BBQ till I get back. We arrive in Chicago Saturday morning so thought I may visit one of the Weber resturants there for lunch.

I've had a BBQ free weekend, as have had a lot of other stuff to do. I'm looking after a small dog that needs walks, and I've been playing with a new toy - a 3D TV - which ended up with me rearranging the furniture and audio-visual kit to give me optimum viewing.
I have another gaming session here next weekend, so - weather permitting - I'll be cooking then, instead.

I hope you've planned your trip around all the good BBQ restaurants in that area

Pork butt, ribs and chicken for me.
Chicken was superb (the Traeger makes the most fantastic chicken), ribs were great (had some 'Whoop Ass' sauce on and were nice and hot), butt was very dissapointing.
I had bought half a pig from what I hoped was a new supplier - direct from the farm in deepest Wales. Turns out the pig must have been on hunger strike before being topped, as there wasn't an ounce of fat anywhere on the beast. Consequently the meat was 'chewy' despite being on the Traeger most of the day.
Oh well......

Cooked two rolled shoulder joints, 1 on the Weber and 1 in a roasting bag in the oven. Mixed the meats up and, courtesy of the roasting bag, had a large bowl of thick jellied stock. All shredded (sorry pulled
) and vac-packed with a couple of large lumps of jelly in each, and happily resting in the freezer for Christmas Eve. All that is except for some nicely filled tortillas we had for tea yesterday.
Looks like the weather will be back to a seasonal "norm" for next weekend
Happy Q-ing

Yes we are doing Route 66 and have a long list of not-to-be-missed BBQ places on the route. If anyone has any recommendations for good BBQ between Chicago and Los Angeles then I would love to hear about them this weekJEC wrote:I hope you've planned your trip around all the good BBQ restaurants in that areawade wrote:Heading to the States for a couple of weeks next Saturday (touring) so will not be putting much on the BBQ till I get back.
