UDS Oil Drum Sizes
UDS Oil Drum Sizes
Looking to get into smoking and have a spare 57cm Weber kettle lid to hand so pondering over making my own UDS. I also require another oil drum for a different project. Does anyone know if its possible to get something smaller than the traditional 45 gallon drums?

Oil drums also come in the 60 litre size, I am in the process of building a UDS out of one

Ooooh 60 litres! Would it be possible to know where you sourced the 60 litre drum from? Sounds ideal for me!
Thanks

Hi
I know this sounds bad but I got them from a local garage, they contained oil!
I power washed them with a friendly detergent in the water and then burnt them out for a hell of a long time, I used all my scrap lumber on them.
Then I power washed them again!
Then 1 more burn and a wash.

PS look on all the USA sites,I have seen so many drums on the net that are not food drums, being converted!

Thanks for the info. All the local garages I asked only seem to get oil in the larger 45 gallon drums. Will have to keep looking around I guess
Cheers.
Cheers.

My drum was mineral oil, not ammonia!
Looks like the chef was smoking something other than just the meats!!!!!!!

I don't suppose you could provide some more info as to what brand oil drums they were? Finding it impossible to source 60 litre ones anywhere. Tempted to just drive down to whatever garage you got yours from and buy one from them!

Putting a post up how I built it tomorrow, with pictures hopefully? I drive a chainsaw better than I drive a computer!
