I like Sam Adams a lot, but i have been getting into Brooklyn Lager also, very very nice.

I'd like to try a Brooklyn Lager - any ideas on where it's sold in the UK?

I agree with the shouts for Sam Adams and Sierra Nevada.

For a real impact from a beer alongside proper BBQ it would have to be a Californian smoked porter. Can stand up against brisket and add so much to the eating experience.

My favourite is Stone Smoked Porter.



Rich, dark, coffee nose and smokey flavour. It's actually the best beer I've tried in the last two years, and I tried about 50 of the best in Belgium in August.

Either that or a nice strong Tripel or Quadrupel.

My favourite is the Straffe Hendrik Quadrupel, brewed by Half Maan within the city walls of Bruge:



The most flavoursome beer I've encountered and even better than the Rochefort efforts in my most humble of opinions.

Lately Ive been getting a real taste for Polish Czech and Slovak beers as I seem to be spending more and more time there. Has anybody ever tried the Slovak beer called Saris, some places here do stock it. Its quite good. Actually while were on the subject every place I go to seems to have a range of one type of beer except for here in the UK. For example in Slovakia there are countless types of Saris just like in Denmark there are so many types of Carlsberg. Here you just get what your given

Haven't tried that, but Aecht Schlenkerla Rauchbier Märzen is a good smoked beer.

Rochefort beers are good, but the benchmark for trappist styles is supposed to be Westvleteren 12. Still haven't tried it.

Some of the fruit lambics are good, but the ones they sell in the UK are generally sweetened with aspartame and a bit crap. Lots on sale in Belgium, seem to be the equivalent of alcopops unless you buy a better quality one.

Just bought 29 bottles of Sam Adams in Morrisons, 50p off (£1.29/bottle). Plus a popup Gelert tent for £12 for the Harry Soo weekend....

They are 3 for £4 in Tesco also.

Come on chaps,
There are a myriad of good beers out there.

For a premium lager budweiser budvar, the czech pilsner which the ghastly tastless american urine substitute tried stealing its name from.
and a good ipa on a summers day flavoursome whilst in the mix of the smoke, or a nourishing brown ale. a bottle of london pride perhaps?

And if in a world of pork a crisp terrifyling dry cider, Inch's dry my particular favorite but its clean crisp apple flavour belies the fact that its 8.2% is gently sawing off the lower half of one of your legs......

Beer is good!

Good call on the inch's I love that stuff - unfortunately it doesnt feel the same way about me
