Just as a quick aside, I've stopped grilling and/or frying mackerel.

I now cook fillets in a hot oven for about 20 minutes.

You'd be amazed at how little the kitchen smells afterwards.

Roasting in the oven. It's just another term for cooking by indirect heat on the barbecue. :D

I hate the rain, but I love barbecuing in the autumn when it's cold and (hopefully) dry.

For BBQ'ing yes, but not for "conventional cooking" I've yet to bake a cake on my BBQ, I know I'm slacking but hey ;)
